The organization of freight transport is a complex process that depends on the type of goods, the structure of the supply chain, and transport conditions; however, there is a lack of systematic research in Lithuania assessing the transport of temperature-sensitive cargo. This article analyzes cargoes classified under Chapter 04 “Food Products, Beverages, and Tobacco” of NST-2007, determining the proportion of temperature-sensitive cargoes that must be transported in specialized vehicles with temperature-controlled bodies. Through a comparative analysis and the application of proportional and indirect assessment methods, the article also analyzes statistical data on freight transport by Lithuanian transport companies for 2020–2024, evaluates the differences between domestic and international transport, and assesses the need for specialized vehicles.
