Abstract

The territory under investigation is located in Mažeikiai, in the valley of the Venta River. This is part of a subnatural (non-urban) recreational environment landscape management area (NRn), identified in the management plan of the European ecological network "Natura 2000" for the protection of birds and habitats - the Venta River Valley (LTAKMB002) and the Venta River (LTAKM002 (within Mazeikiai district). The area of the Venta river valley is currently not adapted to the recreational needs of the population - pedestrian paths are chaotic, greenery is not decorative, the potential of the picturesque Venta river coast is not exploited, the landscape ecology is unstable. In this article, authors based on the results of the original systematic research, developed conceptual solutions for landscaping and ecological improvement of the area. The methodology used may be useful in preparing similar studies in analogous areas in other regions of Lithuania.
