Abstract

Wide spread of aquatic invasive microorganism species from ships ballast water is one of the most important problems that occurs in nowadays marine environment. The treatment of ballast water at present is particularly relevant due to the entry into force of the Ballast Water Management Convention. The article represents ballast water treatment by filtration and UV systems. An analysis of the technical characteristics of ballast water treatment equipment has been performed, comparing to the selected criteria: capacity, area, height, energy consumption.
