The Study of the Tribological Characteristics of Ionic Liquids that Improve the Lubricating Characteristics of Oils
Keywords:
Ionic liquid, tribology, ecology, longevityAbstract
One of the main requirements for lubricants for performance is the durability and stability of the tribological properties throughout their use or storage. All materials age and eventually lose their basic properties, not to mention motor oils. Oxidative, tribological stability and poor low temperature viscous properties are still the main disadvantage of lubricants, therefore this problem is relevant and little studied.
The use of ionic liquids in lubricants / oils is an important object of research due to their unique properties, have good thermal and chemical effects, stability, low melting point, low variability (low flammability), high ionic conductivity, polarity, mixed viscosity and moderate viscosity. In addition to many attractive properties, one of the interesting aspects of ionic liquids is dipole dynamics.
