The Influence of Green Public Area on the Social Environment of Urban Center: Case of Peace Gardens in Sheffield
Abstract
The problems of creation and functioning of green public spaces, such as the lack of properly equipped public greenery, abandonment or commercialization of public spaces, disregard of social function of public green spaces, observed in Lithuanian cities encourage analyzing the experience of foreign countries in this field. The aim of this article is to determine the aspects of the influence of public green spaces on the social environment of the city and to detail them using the case study of Peace Gardens, a newly created public space in Sheffield (UK).
