In Lithuania still at 2019 the publication European Tree Care: A Practical Guide to Planting, Pruning and Safe Work Practice was prepared and published. He summarized the thoughts of several previous publications by European Arboricultural Council, presented the main provisions and theses for arborists, organizers of tree planting and maintenance. Actually, EU funded the project TeST (acronym for ‘Technical Standards in Tree Work’) was running by a partnership representing 11 European countries from September 2019 to August 2022 developed new European technical arboricultural standards.
Three European Arboricultural Standards – European Tree Pruning Standard (EAS 01:2021), European Tree Cabling & Bracing Standard (EAS 02:2022), and European Tree Planting Standard (EAS 03:2022) – are based on a harmonisation of formal and informal European multinational norms and standards, including current knowledge and experience in the arboricultural community. The basic texts are created during working group discussions involving experts from 11 European countries. After agreement in the working group, the draft version is subject to a public consultation, open to all interested. Feedback from the public consultation is discussed and processed in the final version of the Standards before publishing it. These standards will reflect the good practice in tree work across Europe and will provide technical definitions and guidelines for tree work.
The European technical standards on tree pruning, tree planting, and tree cabling and bracing are important source for Lithuanian arboricultural methodology and practice, also to legal regulations basis.
