The article analyses the development of Lithuanian dendrological zoning or the zoning of the suitability of climatic conditions for woody plants, the change in the range of woody plants suitable for greenery and the main criteria for their establishment. The climate conditions zoning system created by the US Department of Agriculture is discussed, and its application in Lithuania under climate change conditions is analysed.
